Introducing Baxter! I’m not sure what Baxter is, but he loves books so he must be wonderful!

A charming book about books, featuring the adorable (and unusual) Baxter, who dreams of starring in a book, but discovers that isn’t quite as simple as it seems

Baxter LOVES books! He likes stories about scary wolves, cuddly bears and cute rabbits. But when Baxter auditions to star in a book, the judges cut his dream short when they move onto to the next hopefuls (scary Wolf, cuddly Bear and cute Rabbit). Poor Baxter! He knows he can’t be like them and decides he doesn’t want to be in a book anymore. But what what’s that on the book shelf? Could it be Baxter’s very own book?Brimming with heart and humour, this is a remarkable picture book debut.

Originally from Iceland, Hrefna Bragadottir has lived and studied in the UK for the past 14 years. After completing an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Arts, she spent many years working as an animator on various children’s TV series, before entering the exciting world of picture books. Amongst other things, Hrefna likes watching wildlife documentaries and reading funny animal facts. She feels there is a lot to be learnt from animals. For instance, did you know that sea otters hold hands when they sleep to keep them from drifting apart? When she’s not at her desk thinking up new characters and story lines, Hrefna likes baking cakes, riding her bike and going on mini adventures in the countryside.
