  1. What is BCB Clubhouse?

BCB Clubhouse is an online book club for children aged from zero to about ten years old who live all around Australia. Membership gives children access to all pages on the website and they receive a book every month (postage included), which you can choose from our selection.

  • Distance doesn’t matter. Members anywhere in Australia will receive books soon after they are published. BCB Clubhouse comes to your child, via our website; they don’t have to travel to it.
  • Choosing from a wide range of books can be overwhelming. We present a small but diverse list of titles to select from each month.
  • BCB Clubhouse members can join in everything that is happening on the site, such as activities and competitions, and enjoy contributions from authors and illustrators.

Who are you?

We are a small team that’s passionate about introducing children to books and stories, and love the benefits that come from reading aloud to kids. We make it easy for people to buy books for the children in their lives, and invite children to join in activities and competitions based on what they have read.

Bernadette: I have worked in the Australian book industry as an editor and publisher for decades. Matching readers of all ages with books they will enjoy is my aim, and I love hearing people’s stories, real or imagined. As a little girl I was so fortunate as I my family all read to me. Now I want to present the best books every month for people to read to their children.

  1. How does BCB Clubhouse work?
  • Subscribe for ongoing membership for $25 per month. This is automatically renewed each month. Your membership includes one book each month. You can choose from the latest Books of the Month or from our previous selections.
  • Alternatively, buy a Pop-in membership for $28, which gives your child access to everything on the site for a month and a book, chosen from our selection.

What do members receive?

Each month members can choose from a range of forthcoming titles. The book is sent, postage included, when it is published. As members, children have access to all the pages on the site, and can take part in the activities offered.

How does my child become a member?

You can purchase the membership on the site. Please visit the Become a Member page.

Can I buy a gift membership?

Yes. We are happy to gift wrap the first book and include a card with your message on it. Email info@bigcountrybookclub.com.au for more information about gift memberships.

Can I include a message with the gift membership?

Yes. Tell us what you want to say and we will write it on the card. Or, we can simply say on the card that the membership is a gift from you. Email us about this: info@bigcountrybookclub.com.au

  1. What about the books?

Can I buy other books through the BCB Clubhouse site?

Yes, you can buy any of the previous Books of the Month from our backlist catalogue; buy more books from the current Books of the Month selection; and, via BCB Clubhouse’s website you can visit the online store of our the affiliate bookshop Where The Wild Things Are.

Can I buy more than one of the books selected each month?

Certainly. If you want to buy more titles from the Books of the Month selection see the Books page.

Will the books be paperback, hardback, ebook or spoken word?

Usually the book will be a paperback but if it is hardback we will let you know. We won’t have ebooks, but we can sometimes offer spoken-word books or direct you to our affiliate bookshop, Where The Wild Things Are, where you can buy them.

Are they new releases?

Literally hot off the press. You will choose a book from our selection before it is released and your child will receive it the following month when it is published. Sometimes, we might also include a classic title in our Books of the Month, or an outstanding book recommend by an author.

  1. How do I pay?

You can pay safely on the site with PayPal or credit card.

Do I pay monthly?

Yes. Once you have signed up for your child to be an ongoing member, we will deduct $25 from your credit card. At that time we will send you an invoice by email.

What if I only want to subscribe for one month?

Then you can buy a Pop-in membership for $28. This gives your child access to all pages on the site for a month and a book.

Can I cancel my ongoing membership?

Yes, we would be sad to say goodbye but we have made it simple to cancel so you feel confident joining. Please see details on the About page.

Will my details be kept confidential?

Definitely. See the Privacy Policy page for details.

  1. Who pays the postage?

Membership includes the postage for one book a month. If you buy other books from the affiliate bookshop, they will let you know if you have to pay postage for that purchase.

What happens if there is a change of address?

Email info@bigcountrybookclub.com.au to give us the new address and the date when your child will be there.

When will the Book of the Month arrive?

Between 2 and 6 weeks after you have entered your selection on the site. As we choose forthcoming titles, it may take up to 6 weeks if it is being printed.

What if a book doesn’t arrive?

Allow 6 weeks from when you entered your selection on the site. If it hasn’t arrived by then, email us and we will track it through Australia Post or send a replacement copy.

Can I choose when my child’s membership will start?

Yes. Let us know if you want the membership to start in the future rather than in the month you sign up.

  1. What if we have bad internet reception; can my child still be a member?

Yes. Write to let us know you are out of range. Then, with the book each month, we will send a USB stick containing the activities, etc., that will be featured on the site.

  1. I have a question that’s not listed above. Can you help?

We’ll do our best. Email: info@bigcountrybookclub.com.au
